What is a SAM ID?

A Systems Award Management Unique Entity ID (SAM ID) is a 12 character code that identifies a business so that they can receive federal funds. All legal businesses are eligible. Signing up to retrieve a SAM ID should take less than 10 minutes

Most businesses participating in Engines Off need a SAM ID - there are a few exceptions.

Do I need a SAM ID?

The funding for Engines Off comes from the federal government (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality funds). As a result, Engines Off must follow federal funding guidelines. Generally, entities that receive federal funding, such as Engines Off grant recipients, must have a SAM ID. However, there are some exceptions. Whether or not a business needs a SAM ID depends on if they will receive a check directly from Engines Off.

I am a business that is directly receiving funds from Engines Off. That means that I will purchase equipment and/or installation, and my business will be reimbursed from Engines Off directly. I will receive a check from Engines Off.

Yes, I need a SAM ID.

I am a business working with Joule Case, RV Solar Connections or Ace Hardware. That means that I am only paying 20% of the cost of the equipment and installation, and Engines Off will send a reimbursement check to Joule Case, RV Solar Connections or Ace Hardware for the rest of the cost. I will not receive a check from Engines Off.

No, I do not need a SAM ID.

How to get your SAM ID

Engines Off grant recipients only need to "Get Your Unique Entity ID." Do NOT "Register Your Entity."
