Idle-Free Schools

Many schools across our Front Range Nonattainment area have already turned their Engines Off. Your school could be next!

Please read below to see what great ideas schools have come up to help protect children's health and support cleaner air.

Lincoln Elementary

Participated in the Engines Off program in the Spring of 2024

  • Sent out weekly newsletters with anti-idling facts

  • Created social media posts

  • Reached out to teachers, staff, parents/guardians and community members via email

  • Students participated in anti-idling observations

  • Students took home pledges to encourage their parents/guardians to be idle-free

  • Held Earth Day assembly which included a sign design competition

Park Hill Elementary

Participated in the RAQC Engines Off program in the spring of 2024

  • ​Used multiple forms of communication using emails, social media, newsletters, and informational flyers to engage teachers, staff, parents/guardians, and the community

  • Held a tabling event in partnership with RAQC in March of 2024, which including facts about idling

  • Students participated in sign design and selected signs were placed near pick-up/drop-off lines

  • The campaign was highlighted in the Greater Park Hill news

Isabella Bird Community School

Participated in RAQC Engines Off program from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025

  • Parent volunteers and RAQC staff conducted anti-idling observations before and after the program

  • Placed official no-idling signs throughout all parking lots on school grounds near pick-up and drop-off lines
