Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is eligible to apply for this grant?
To qualify, you must:
-
Be a legal business registered with the State of Colorado, and
-
Operate a food truck or other mobile business in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer, or Weld County.
You’ll also need to provide a Colorado Certificate of Good Standing, a SAM ID, and a quote or invoice for the equipment you want to purchase.

2. How much funding can I receive?
Most applicants qualify for up to 80% of their electrification costs, with a maximum award of $20,000 per calendar year, as long as you recycle an existing gas, propane, or diesel generator.
If you’re a brand-new food truck without a generator to recycle, you can still apply, but the grant will cover up to 70% of costs (still capped at $20,000).

3. What equipment can (and cannot) be covered by this grant?
Eligible costs include:
-
Battery systems and power stations
-
Inverters, chargers, wiring, and mounting materials
-
Installation costs
-
Electrical components needed to run the battery system
Not eligible:
-
Taxes
-
Delivery fees
-
Extended warranties or service plans
-
Discounts
-
Home charging equipment for personal residences

4. Do I need to recycle my old generator?
Yes, this is one of the most important program requirements.
To receive the 80/20 award, you must recycle one gas, propane, or diesel generator per truck and submit proof of recycling.
If you don’t recycle, your award may be canceled or you may be required to repay funds.
New trucks without a generator can still apply but are eligible for 70% cost coverage instead of 80%.

5. When can I make purchases, and how does reimbursement work?
You must wait to receive an official Purchase Order (PO) from RAQC before buying anything. Purchases made before the PO is issued cannot be reimbursed.
Here’s how reimbursement works:
-
You pay your required match (20–30%) to the approved partner vendor.
-
The vendor submits the final paid invoice, proof of payment, and generator recycling receipt (if applicable).
-
RAQC reimburses the vendor directly for the grant-funded portion.
All equipment and installation must be purchased through an RAQC Trusted Partner such as Joule Case, Trek Systems, participating Ace Hardware locations, or VanLife Customs.
